About the Ingram V.F.D...

This Department was established in 1959 to meet the needs for fire protection in Kerr County and the Ingram area.

Funding was provided by Kerr County and donations from residence in the service area to provide fire and rescue coverage for approximately 60 square miles including the City of Ingram.

The organization began operations from the station located at 100 Washington Street in Ingram. Many of the trucks were built by fire department personnel.

The first purchased apparatus was a 1959 pumper built by Simms Inc., out of San Antonio, Texas.

The department still owns this pumper and it is still operational today.
