Burn Permits

The only material allowed to be burnt in the city limits is limbs, sticks, leaves, and other natural vegetation. A burn permit must be obtained before any burning is allowed. These can be received at the Ingram Volunteer Fire Station or by calling to set up a time for the site to be inspected.

Why get a burn permit before burning?

A burn permit is more than just a piece of paper granting permission to set fires. It serves as a crucial tool in ensuring the safety of both individuals and the environment during fire-related activities. By obtaining a burn permit, individuals are required to follow specific guidelines and regulations set by authorities, which helps prevent uncontrolled wildfires and minimizes the risk of property damage or injury.

Moreover, burn permits play a key role in regulating fire usage, especially in areas prone to extreme weather conditions like droughts or strong winds. These permits allow officials to monitor and control the number of burns taking place within a specific region, reducing the overall impact on air quality and wildlife habitats. Overall, obtaining a burn permit demonstrates responsibility and consideration for the community's well-being while engaging in fire-related activities.

How to get a burn permit?

City of Ingram residence will need to contact City Hall in Ingram for a permit. Any resident who lives outside of the city limits will need to contact the Kerr County Sherriff's Office. Always check the status of the Burn Ban before applying for a permit.
